Lavant T20 VS Ashling T20 (H) 23/07/25

Lavant T20 VS Ashling T20 (H) 23/07/25

After over a month of waiting, the Loons were awaiting their first fixture with anticipation. Weather has been a nemisis for mid week games, causing disruption and cancellation. The team was comprised of members old and new for lavant. Ashling (always a tough opposition) were the next focus to keep Lavanys winning ways.  The school term ended this week, which usually coincides with grey weather. A downpour at 2pm contributed to a very grassy, green Ashling pitch.  Once the taxi…

Lavant VS Grayshott (H) 19/07/25

Match Report With dark grey clouds looming in the morning when the mighty Lavant awoke from their slumber the prospect of any match play seemed unlikely. However the afternoon forecast looked good and thanks to TamsTarps™ even the heavy rain couldn’t deter the home side from getting out onto the park! This week Grayshott were coming to play on one of the rare Saturday fixtures. Upon arrival at the ground suddenly the thunderclouds had lifted, the rain had moved on…

Lavant VS Shirrell Heath (H) 13/07/25

Lavant VS Shirrell Heath (H) 13/07/25

Match Report On a blazing hot July summer day the mighty Lavant (after being on the road for a couple of weeks) returned home. The Village green looked dry, the outfield brown and the wicket seemed baked and hard!  This week we welcomed Shirrel Heath who had been struggling to get a full 11. A BIG thank you to Jayden who has been patiently waiting for a chance to play for Lavant and was kind enough to play for Shirrel…

Lavant VS Clanfield (A) 06/07/25

Match Report After a grey, windy and dreary weekend the mighty Lavant (once again on the road) were travelling all the way to Hampshire to face (a surprisingly youthful) Clanfield. Although the forecast was ropey and it was lightly raining upon their arrival the team were hopeful that things would clear up as last year’s fixture was lost to rain. It did give the team a chance to gaze upon Clanfield’s new pavilion which was very impressive, and many of…

Lavant VS Ashling (A) 29/06/25

Match Report After their first loss of the season the mighty Lavant licked their wounds and dusted themselves off ready for the future challenges ahead. This week we were back on the road once more visiting Ashling for the all important ‘local derby’.  On a ragingly hot day and the sun baking the ground, the Lavant skipper (who managed to arrive on time this week) was wondering if he could do the toss from the comfort of an air conditioned…

Lavant T20 VS Taverners (H) 25/05/25

Lavant T20 VS Taverners (H) 25/05/25

Match Report After the first loss in the season for the Sunday side, the mid week skipper was hoping to keep a clean sheet of wins for the mighty loons. There were whisperings of a very strong batting side from the  Taverners. The air was so thick it felt like you could use a knife to cut it. During a quick inspection of the pitch from the two captains, it seemed hard, yet crumbly underneath.  Walter – The antipodean skipper,…

Lavant VS Amberly (A) 22/06/25

Match Report (Kindly written this week by Justin) After another thumping win and a great turn out to nets the mighty Lavant CC headed to Amberley for a repeat fixture full of confidence.  The earlier game had been based off a tried and tested method of batting first, scoring runs and squeezing the side batting second. So, in true style when the captain was nowhere to be seen and with an excitable bunch of players the talk in the pregame…

Lavant VS Arundel Castle (H) 15/05/25

Match Report After a couple of weeks on the road the mighty Lavant returned to their home turf. The legend goes that if the team doesn’t return home at least once a month and bathe in the River Lavant then someone’s shoes will be cursed. With the sun shining and the weather finally starting to warm up this week Lavant welcomed Arundel Castle to the field of dreams, on what was a busy Father’s day with many people stationed around…

Lavant T20 VS Bosham T20 (A) 11/06/25

Lavant T20 VS Bosham T20 (A) 11/06/25

After a week of temperamental weather, the sun decided to peek its head and shine through to the Bosham pitch. A few late arrivals to the pitch meant a reshuffle up the top. Will and Iain took the first overs. The premier leg spinner from Bosham was reminiscent of Warne, but spinning it both ways. One ball must have turned 1 metre from 20 cm outside leg to 80 cm outside off. Andy Pine snuck through the defence of Willy…

Lavant VS West Meon (A) 08/06/25

Lavant VS West Meon (A) 08/06/25

Match Report The mighty Lavant were on the road once more this time heading to West Meon. After a couple of days of heavy rainfall the West Meon pitch appeared green, spongy and damp.  With the Lavant bowlers licking their lips at the idea of being unleashed on (what appeared to be a bowler friendly track) the toss went up and much to the frustration of the Lavant skipper he called wrong and (unsurprisingly in a timed game) Lavant were…
